Travelin' hard, travelin' far, travelin' on following my star
Another town, another place, another face.
When I met some friends I didn't even know I knew
And they opened up their hearts and home to me
They took the time to make a friend,
to share some hopes and dreams and plans.
They showed me love, they showed me life as it can be.

Did you ever wish you could catch a falling star?
Did you ever want to go far from where you are?
You can if you
look beyond and stretch your horizons.

You can't live life watching from the stands.
To enjoy the show well you've got to take a chance.
Now's your time to
Take your courage off the shelf
Learn to trust commit yourself
Don't be thinking of what you lack
Do it now and then don't look back
You can if you think of all the things you have!

Look beyond and stretch your horizons.

Did you ever think you could do your part?
All you need is faith and love that's from the heart
We can if we
Look beyond and stretch our horizons

Travelin' hard, travelin' far, travelin' on following my star.
Another town, another face, another place.
When I met some friends I didn't even know I knew
And they opened up their hearts and homes to me.
They took the time to make a friend
To share some hopes and dreams and plans
They showed me love, they showed me life as it can be.

Did you ever wish you could catch a falling star?

Talkin' Rainbow Repairman Blues
By Joan Maute
© Studio 2 Music

I got a strange call the other night
They wanted me to work at the first dawn's light.
It was an emergency, no doubt about that!
Some fool had smashed a rainbow flat.
I said, "OK. What? A broken rainbow? Right!"

You see I fix TVs and video games.
They thought fixin' a rainbow would be the same.
I was just to think of the sky as a screen
And bring my tools to fine tune green.
Oh well, why not?

The very next morning they met me where
The rainbow beams were scrambled in the air.
Not only was there trouble with the green,
But some short circuit was shuffling dreams.
People's wishes got mixed up. What a mess.

Now I'd never thought about it before
But rainbows have a pretty tough chore.
They represent so many things,
Hopes, sings, and in-betweens,
And this one was broken. I was glad to help.

I fixed the green in the bat of an eye.
The rainbow looked perfect in the sky.
But the dreams and the wishes still got mixed up
So the dreamers and the wishers were out of luck.
The dreams and wishes were granted, but went to someone else.

I finally found the defective part
And fixing it really warmed my heart.
Because you know people need their dreams
And fixing a rainbow's more important than fixing machines.

The Road Not Taken
Words and music Joan Maute
© Studio 2 Music

The road not taken seldom calls you to the life you could have had
The stars that glitter in the distance still are yours.
You don’t look back to see what could have been when you’re happy here and now
The road you chose
The life you grow.

As you journey down the pathways toward forever and always
Your life is changing with each single step you take.
You bend and flow; you stretch and grow
Living fuller as you go
You travel on
You live your song.

There are those who live tomorrow lookin’ back to yesterday
They never know just where they are or choices here
Don’t live regrets, mistakes, uncertainties
Thinkin’ then and missin’ now
Don’t waste your days
Find other ways.

The road not taken seldom calls you to the life you could have had
The stars that glitter in the distance still are yours.
You find your sign posts all along the way
And they help you through life’s maze
You make your trail
You live your tale.

The road not taken seldom calls you to the life you could have had
The stars that glitter in the distance still are yours.

There’s a little man who lives right down, right down inside of my guitar
And every time I’m feelin’ blue he pops his head right up on through and says,
“Hey Girl, let’s play”
And he gives me a song and I learn to sing along
He gives me a tune and I learn to play it soon
We sing and we play until the end of the day
Don’t ever think it’s me, pretty soon you’re gonna see, it’s just the little man, and me.

There’s a little man who lives right down, right down inside of my guitar
And when my heart is weakening he does some chin-ups on the strings and says,
“Hey Girl, let’s play”
And if I break a string well it’s no big thing
‘Cause if I don’t do well, well, he’ll never tell\
‘Cause that little guy’s insane and he will always take the blame
Don’t ever think it’s me, pretty soon you’re gonna see, it’s just the little man, and me.

He has a little kettle and he brews his cup of tea
And when my voice is weary well he shares his tea with me
He has a little sofa, he has a little bed
And he has a little map of the inside of my head.

Well there’s a little man who lives right down, right down inside of my guitar
And when I feel I want to cry he has his cue sheet standing my he snaps his fingers counts the time and starts me on the opening line and says,
“Hey Girl, let’s play.”
And I don’t know what I’d do if that little guy got blue,
I don’t know where I’d be if he wasn’t here with me
He loves his little home I guess I’ll never be alone,
It will always be the little man and me…

There’s a little man who lives right down, right down inside of my guitar
Do you see the little man who lives right down, down inside of my guitar.

A Special Bond
By Joan Maute
© Studio 2 Music

Leavin’ from Toronto with a tear in your eye
And an achin’ heart you’ve never felt before.
Sortin’ out the brand new pain of sayin’ goodbye
Sayin’ that you’ll never say hello anymore.

We say the joy is worth the pain of leaving.
We tell you loving friends are special and they’re rare.
You shake your head refusing not believing,
The hurting only goes to show how much you care.

This is the first time in your life.
This is a special bond no one will ever tear.
The first time it’s hurt to say goodbye.
It’s growing up to know that far apart you still can share.

The sky is dark and overcast reflecting your gloom.
The wipers rush to chase the mist away.
The suns streaks through the clouds creating a loom.
The rainbow strands begin erasing all of the grey.

The time goes on the seasons change you’ve regained your smile.
Later on you find you meet again.
You say hello; you say goodbye; you laugh all the while
As you come to realize you still have your friend.

You say the joy is worth the pain of leaving.
You tell us loving friends are special and they’re rare.
And now at last you finally are believing,
That time and distance cannot change how much you care.

For the rest of your life, you have a special bond no one will ever tear.
Yes for the rest of your life, you know that though your friends are miles away,

They still ae there. For the rest of your life.

A Treasure We All Can Win
By Joan Maute
© Studio 2 Music

They said to look for the rainbow, they said you’ll find gold at its end.
They said over and under and behind the rainbow’s a treasure we all can win.

So I followed the crowd and off we raced in search of a dream after rainbows we chased
Running in, out, around, and sometimes below
Where our steps would lead we’d never know.

We found all the red, the blue and the green, orange and yellow and colors between
We never asked why, we always ran on, madly searching for our rainbow song.

They said to look for the rainbow, they said you’ll find gold at its end.
They said over and under and behind the rainbow’s a treasure we all can win.

The I cut my pace and I finally slowed down, I was catching my breath as I looked around.
I found I was standing at the rainbow’s end. The treasure was with me; it had always been.

And now I look back to a time far away; did I keep what I found, was it worth what I paid?
The answer’s no question, beginnings and end, it’s always with you; it comes from within.

They said to look for the rainbow, they said you’ll find gold at its end.
They said over and under and behind the rainbow’s a treasure we all can win.

New Beginnings/So Much More
By Joan Maute
© Studio 2 Music

Talk of signs, new beginnings, futures untold.
Speak of starts, or are they endings? Pages unfold.
Where are you going?
Where have you been?
What's this you're showing?
Are you trusting again?

I'll sit back and watch you struggle, thoughts won't betray.
I've no pieces for your puzzle, nothing to say.
What are you thinking?
What have you known?
What's worth the keeping?
Are you standing alone?

Do it now.
Come on in.
You ought to know by now you've found yourselves a friend.
Make your own music.
Write your own score.
Life's there to use it.
Nothing less, so much more

Look in smiles, see in laughter,
Visions are clear.
This is now.
This is after.
We're all still here.
Make your own music.
Write your own score.
Life's there to use it.
Nothing less, so much more

Odyssey
By Joan Maute
© Studio 2 Music

I drove off on an Odyssey.
Thirty days through a different time and place.
The mountains the hills, the rivers the streams
The colors or blue, the spectrum of the greens
All hit my eyes and my mind, and the place in-between
With amazement that took me beyond.

I went off to change priorities.
Take a month of your life, let things go.
Leave your work all behind
Shift the gears; clean the slate
Rearrange all your thoughts
Ride the winds with your fate
Find the time of your mood
Leave your watch; loose the date
Heed the voices that call once again.

“Come with me I know you; walk with me I’ll show you.
Rest with me I’ll reach you; stay with me I’ll teach
Grow with me I’ll lead you; show to me I need you.
Look from here you see now; go from here, you know how.

I came back to reality, Illinois I’ve never seen you look so flat.
The hot muggy air, the rain fallin’ down,
the potholes and streets, the traffic in town
all hit my soul with the urge to run, to turn around
Know the reason I’ll say once again.

I’m going off on an odyssey. I’ve got to change my priorities.
It helps me deal with reality.

I Were Brave

What would I do if I knew that I could not fail?
If I believed would the wind always fill up my sail?
How far could I go, what could I achieve
Trusting the hero in me?

Chorus:
I were brave I’d walk the razor’s edge.
Where fool and dreamer dare to tread.
And never lose faith even when losing my way.
What step would I take today if I were brave?

What if we’re all meant to do what we secretly dream?
What would you ask if you knew you could have anything?
Like a mighty oak sleeps in the heart of a seed
Are there miracles in you and me?

Chorus

If I refuse to listen to the voice of fear
Would the voice of courage whisper in my ear?

Chorus
What would I do today if I were brave…

A Raindrop’s Lament
By Joan Maute
© Studio 2 Music

I speak for raindrops and we’re really upset
If you watch the news we always get the bad press
They tell you we’re coming to ruin your plans
But rainbows they’ve got a lot of fans.

I’ve never known anyone who didn’t like rainbows
I’ve never known a rainbow to b ring out a frown.
It just isn’t fair this love for rainbows,
they’re nothing at all if we’re not around.

Violet veers off course all the time.
The blues bounce and fall as they climb.
Green goes crazy, yellow yackety yacks.
Orange oinks, red rides on it’s back.

Why do you think they call it a rainbow?
You wouldn’t believe the work we must do.
The raindrops divide and reflect the rainbow
Without the rain, a rainbow is through..

Gonna Get On Out of Here
By Joan Maute
© Studio 2 Music

Chorus:
Gonna take that step, gonna make that leap, gonna get on out of here
Don't know what taken us (me)* so long.
Gonna take that step, gonna make that leap, gonna throw it all away
Gonna turn our back and smile and move along.

We've been busy livin', lovin', earnin'
Making time for all that needed done.
All good years but finally we're learnin'
Life's too short to live on the run.

Chorus

Nothing wrong with what we have been doing,
Nothing 'cept it's driving us insane.
We've too much to chance it all on ruin.
We've got to go there's too much we can gain.

Chorus

Nothing wrong with what we have been saying.
We just feel there's got to be much more.
There's no sense in spinning wheels and staying.
We're taking off; we're learning how to soar.

Chorus

Some tell us it won't be any different.
Some say, "I stuck it out, why can't you?"
Some give us warnings that are well meant.
But most wish they were going with us too!

Gonna take that step, gonna make that leap, gonna get on out of here,
Don't know what's taken us so long.
Gonna take that step, gonna make that leap, gonna throw it all away,
Gonna leave it all behind, gonna turn our backs and laugh and move along!

May Your Dreams Come True
By Jana Stanfield, Al McGree
©JanaStanTunes
www.janastanfield.com

May your dreams come true if you want them to if you’re willing to do what it takes.
May we laugh and cry, and always try to learn from our mistakes.
And when we meet again may we still be friends
And may your dreams come true if you want them to if you’re willing to do what it takes.
May the wind be at your back. May you never know a lack of money or of friends.
Til the next time our paths cross may you never feel lost and may you know a love that never ends.
May your dreams come true if you want them to if you’re willing to do what it takes.
May we laugh and cry, and always try to learn from our mistakes.
And when we meet again may we still be friends
And may your dreams come true if you want them to if you’re willing to do what it takes.

When it’s time to say goodbye. We can look back and see why, fate brought us to this place.
Though I’m sad to see us part, I will take heart remembering the smile upon your face.
May your dreams come true if you want them to if you’re willing to do what it takes.
May we laugh and cry, and always try to learn from our mistakes.
And when we meet again may we still be friends
And may your dreams come true if you want them to if you’re willing to do what it takes.
