January 2015
All I can say is time really does fly when you’re having fun and 2014 was a lot of fun! Faster your seatbelts while I will take you through some of the highlights.

Highlight #1...
Rayna Catherine Maute, our first grandchild, was born in Colorado June 20. To say that Mark and I are drinking deeply from the grandparent Kool-Aid would be an understatement. Here is a picture of me singing to Rayna in June and one taken in December of Mark teaching Rayna about the color blue.

Honorable Mention Highlights:
Guitars In The Classroom The GITC classes are going great in Hilton Head, Bluffton, and Beaufort. There was even one school, Riverview Charter School in Beaufort that gave me six hours on a Saturday in May so they could start playing, singing and writing before summer. This fall I taught my first all ukulele GITC class for Hilton Head, Bluffton, and Beaufort teachers.

You Can Uke This is the second year Mark and I taught You Can Uke for our local school district. (He teaches the assembly and decorating of the Wolfeles, I teach how to play them.) We were joined by our friend Karen Redick who really helped the students with their singing. On Monday the kits were in pieces, by 11 AM Thursday they were giving a concert for their parents and friends playing and singing three songs. We really love this class!

Swannanoa
This was my fourth year to attend the Swannanoa Gathering (or as my son calls it, Band Camp). I had classes with Kathy Mattea, Don Henry, and Siobhan Quinn. You’ll hear their influences on my next CD, Bring It Around Again (to be released later this year).

Nashville November found me back in Nashville, recording five new songs. As a special treat, my friends Karen Redick and Lee Mynett joined me and added harmony tracks on the title song, “Bring It Around Again”. Thomm Jutz did a wonderful job recording and producing and also added guitar and harmony tracks, Steve Conn played keyboard, Mark Fain upright bass, and Lynn Williams percussion. I’m really excited about this EP (extended play, ie short, only 5 songs) that will be out in the spring.

2015 Is off and running. Well, I guess I’m limping until I get my new knee in February. Teachers from Coastal Empire Montessori Charter School in Savannah were in a new beginner GITC class that mixed guitars and baritone ukuleles. For now, I’m working on getting ready for my surgery, then Feb and March will be time for rehab. A great coming event is in June when Mark will be the Featured Artist for the Art League of Hilton Head. That’s it for now, have a good one, I sure plan to!
